Why Photography

I have been asked several times why I decided to peruse photography.  And generally, my answer is I think Photography chose me.  It consistently inserted itself in my life until one day I said, "yeah, I get it, let's do this"!

Why did I fall in love with Photography? Now that's a good question! I think it is the ability to explore and frame everyday life in a beautiful way that really excites me.

It forces me to see light in new and different ways.  It gives me the nerve to hike up hills, hang from precarious ledges, and hop fences I would otherwise be terrified to even think about conquering.  Photography allows me to be me in the fullest way imaginable.  It makes me brave, aware and in tune with my surroundings (adjectives I don't normally associate with myself!) I find a sense of stability behind the lens.

Simply rinsing off tomatoes, and boom...I have a shot I am proud of.

I love that everyday sights can be frozen in time and made into, what I would consider, art. I spent yesterday in the backyard taking photos to show you what I mean!

Even a trip to the park down the street and you can find a single second worth saving.

I always have my camera in my bag.  And yes, my purse is giant and heavy, but worth it!

(For those of you who are curious I am currently rocking a very old Sony NEX and love it. I am looking to upgrade soon, but haven't found "the one"!)

I also love the ability to grab a smile or laughter and keep it forever. Our lives seem to be in a constant state of change and Photography allows me to appreciate each and every moment, and save those precious seconds I want to keep close.
