I love a good New Years resolution; however, I hate the idea of feeling like I need to totally change myself in a “New Year, New Me” life plan! I am perfectly imperfect and rather happy with that! Working on my health and business, for me, are positive movements through life. A way to nourish my ever-wandering soul, but not seen as a need to completely over haul myself in order to feel successful. I am successful because I am me, just as you are successfully being You! Sometimes I think the idea of a New-Year-New-You can lead to serious stress, and ultimately the comparison between you and your twice removed cousins Instagram. Where you will most likely judge yourself for not working out today when she can make time for two a day workouts…well she is a yoga instructor and you are not! Of course, you can’t make time for two work outs a day, you aren’t paid to go to the gym! All this unnecessary self-judgment happens when we set these daunting “goals” for ourselves because we think we need to. When, in all actuality, You are perfect in this very moment! If you want to make a change to help You feel better about You, then more power to You friend!! I will support you 100% of the way, but if you are simply setting huge “goals’ in order to fill the social standard of the New You fad that rushes our newsfeeds every January, then I want you to repeat after me…I AM PERFECTLY IMPERFECT, and if anyone disagrees, Fuck them.
Below are photos from the most recent Eslick-Gramolini-Patterson family photo extravaganza! We tried to take more “traditional’ photos weeks before this shoot, and they weren’t great…because we were trying to be something we weren’t! We are all a little weird, a little camera shy, and love wine! Once we removed the idea of classic holiday family photos, we had so much fun! And got some good photos to plaster all over the wall, both physical and digital!
Happy New Year People! Remember, you are wonderful, beautiful, peculiar and perfect! Don’t change or try to be something you aren’t for the sake of the hashtag (#NewYearNewMe).
